“My Realistic ways to Open the
International Class Program”
International
Program or International class is the main program which build in University with international quality
of service and education standar.
By going on
this class, The University is
ready to promote its quality to the world level, and positioned itself as a
University that compete with the world's leading universities. It is not an
easy job to realize, and need a variety of procedures that must be completed
and fulfilled. We need the proper strategies for improving the quality of
universities in Indonesia. One of them is giving the trademark World Class
University as evidence of good quality and has a reputation.
World
Class University seems to be the main requirement for Indonesia if you want to
compete and get a good ranking among colleges abroad. We often hear there are universities or Colleges who aspire to go
international with various goals or target success, but they never show when the target reached. The planned was still
limited to "discourse or dreams" and "action" has not been
made clearly, systemic, directional, and programmed accordingly.
Those
are realistic ways to reach the International Class Program:
1.
WORLD
RANKING
The
Director General of higher education, Prof. dr. Fasli Jalal, Ph.D said "because not all Universities in
Indonesia are a comprehensive university, then not all of them should compete
in THE-QS ranking. There are still many other modalities can be utilized and it
was quite friendly and can be done right now. A much more realistic to focus on
WEBOMETRIC for Indonesian College, especially which not a
comprehensive university "
Webometric
Assessment focus on the utilization of Information and Communication Technology
(ICT), or the development of the College website as its proxies. There are four
elements of valuation set by the Webometric, namely that of visibility (V)
calculate how many external links contained on the website, the size (S)
calculate the number of pages that get caught by search engines like google, yahoo, live search and exalead.
Then also counted from the richness of the file (R), such as how many types of
PDF files (adobe acrobat), "Adobe PostScript", "Word
Document", and PPT (Presentation Document), as well as "Scholar"
(Sc) taken from the data of search engine sites such as mentioned above related
to the scientific writings of the College.
Some strategies to increase rank in
Webometric:
Ø Oblige Professors, Lecturer and students to
upload and renew a wealth of file.
Ø Create a special Webpage for lecturer which contains
the scientific tasks of overall student. So the task that has been made is not
pointless but could be a public viewing. And can even reduce the level of
Plagiarism.
Ø Invite
the Professors, Lectures, students, and graduates to keep heating on the
website.
Ø Improve
the quality of ICT facilities in the campus environment, up to 10 KB/student.
As well as one of the criteria of World Class University

SCIENTIFIC
JOURNAL
Data
reported by Elsevier Science Direct, pointed out that since 1996 the research
output in Indonesia is about 500 until 2007 remains still less than 1000 papers,
equivalent to Philippines and Viet Nam, while Thailand already at 1000 surged
in 1996 and reached 5500 in 2007. Malaysia in 1996 had 1000 researches output
and increased to 3500 in 2007.
Based
on “the backwardness”, then need publication scientific journal in the form of
competition which is held every semester or once every 6 months. So that the
students have a high competitive spirit. Overall funding and supervising research
will be facilitated by campus, which is expected to be able to penetrate the
accredited even international Journals.
3. INTERNATIONAL FORUM
Ø Planning
some staff or lecturers to attend the International Forum on the basis of the
research that he does. Choose the best competent people to compete in International forums.
If necessary, search an opportunities for giving a speech at the event. This is
certainly raise the College.
Ø Auxiliary
our staff who currently doing research
and writing down his work to be published in international peer review
Journals. Colleges can do cooperation with Scientists International
Association of Indonesia (Ikatan Ilmuwan
Indonesia International) for this international journal publication
cellular.
Ø The
Universities should think clearly what research topics that truly should be financed.
Search the issue which frontier research, do not too busy with a little
research. Indonesia is a field of issues which never dry to be analyzed.

SCHOLARSHIPS
for LECTURER
Plan
the Ph.D candidates whose will be shipped to study in a University that has the
world's best courses. Ask a Well known Professor to be their supervisor.
5.
BEST
FACILLITIES
Ø Upgrading
existing facilities of the International standard, which is based on high
technology.
Ø Create
campus atmosphere which comfortable and safe. Make your students please lingering in campus.
Ø Create
a special hostel for foreign students, as well as student achievers with
amenities that make them feel like being in their own home.
6.
FOREIGN
COOPERATION
International
University was not referred to as the International standards for College if
there is no academic cooperation with more International Universities. This
cooperation is mutually beneficial and should be done sustainable.
7.
"THE
EXCELLENT UMB"
If
all of things above have been implemented and sustainable, the next task is to
give suggestions to students to participate in successful vision that has been
established. To summarize some of the Mercu Buana University Work Culture formed as videos with
tagline "The Excellent UMB" that always aired before the lectures
started.
By doing a whole series of the above
activities plan consistently and sustainebly. I am sure that our Colleges target to
make the International class program which qualified and has a reputation equal
with the leading universities in the world will be achieved. So the challenges
of College and the education of Indonesia in General in the face of global
competition, slowly but surely it can be resolved.
